Ogun PDP urges early grassroots engagement ahead of 2027 elections.

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Abayomi Tella, has urged aspiring party candidates to begin building strong relationships with the electorate ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning that the party can no longer afford a “trial and error” approach.

Tella made the call on Monday at a political gathering organized by Toyin Amuzu, the PDP’s 2023 candidate for Abeokuta South Federal Constituency. He emphasized the importance of early grassroots mobilization and unity within the party.

“To all our intending aspirants, you must not wait until six months before the election to start engaging with the people. That’s how popularity fades and elections are lost,” Tella said. “Now is the time to connect with the grassroots. It’s not all about money—build real relationships.”

He further stressed the need for peace and cooperation among party members, stating, “We must use every opportunity to unite the party. Our strength lies in unity, and we cannot afford another misstep. 2027 is our year, but it comes with responsibilities.”

Toyin Amuzu also echoed the call for commitment to public service, saying, “If our elected representatives consistently empowered people throughout their tenure, by now many citizens would be gainfully employed.”

The event highlighted the party’s push for deeper community involvement and strategic preparation ahead of future elections.
