Rt. Hon Iroju Ogundeji, the Assembly Deputy Speaker has been impeached as a panel has been inaugurated by the assembly to investigate an allegation of gross misconduct against him.
The leadership of the assembly noted that 20 out of the 26 members signed the deputy’s impeachment.
Ogundeji described his impeachment as null and void as the house did not have the required number of law makers to impeach him.
He further challenged the leadership of the assembly to publish the names of those that signed the impeachment.
The Deputy speaker and others were suspended from the assembly citing indiscipline and misconduct but were later reinstated by the State High court fonte dell’articolo.
Rt. Hon, Bamidele Oloyelegun, the speaker of the assembly proceeded to court of appeal for a stay of execution order against the high court judgment reinstating the suspended law makers.
However, Justice Omoleye queried the suits and lifted the suspension, and ordered the assembly to reinstate the law makers and paid them all their entitlements.
Last week, the Deputy speaker and others whose suspensions were lifted were prevented from resuming legislative duties.
The Chairman Ad Hoc committee on information, Hon Olugbenga Omole announcing the impeachment of Ogundeji and removal of others said that Hon, Aderoboye Samuel representing Odigbo constituency 2 has been elected to succeed Ogundeji as deputy speaker.
