Akinwumi Adesina, the outgoing president of the African Development Bank (AfDB), has hinted at the possibility of running for the Nigerian presidency.
In a recent interview, he expressed his willingness to serve in any capacity, both globally and in his home country, Nigeria, after his term at AfDB ends. Adesina emphasized his deep pride in his Nigerian identity, recalling a time when he turned down the opportunity to obtain U.S. citizenship in favor of his Nigerian passport.
He shared that his ultimate satisfaction comes from seeing people’s lives transformed and changed, further underscoring his readiness to serve wherever needed. While discussing his future, Adesina playfully referenced Nigerian artist Davido’s song, saying, “I am available, they will see me,” signaling his openness to a potential presidential run in the future.
