The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on party leaders from the North-Central zone to take the lead in nominating a replacement for the former National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu. This call was made in a communique delivered by BoT Chairman, Adolphus Wabara, after an emergency meeting on Thursday in Abuja.
The BoT emphasized the need for unity and internal harmony within the party, urging the National Working Committee (NWC) to restore stability and public confidence by adhering to the party’s constitution and ensuring proper zoning of NWC offices across the country’s geopolitical zones. They expressed dissatisfaction with the continued delay in convening a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, criticizing the NWC’s actions for undermining trust and portraying the party as being controlled by specific interests.
The BoT further called on the PDP Governors’ Forum to collaborate more effectively with other party organs to resolve issues swiftly. They also urged the NWC to honor its commitment to convene the NEC meeting as scheduled in February 2025, stressing that any further postponement could worsen the party’s challenges.
