PDP reconciliation strategy: Atiku allegedly turndown southeast invitation.

By Divine Sam

Atiku Abubakar’s absence from the PDP North East leaders meeting in Bauchi has raised eyebrows, especially as the party discussed key matters surrounding internal reconciliation and strategies for the 2027 elections.

His non-participation in the gathering, which was attended by top figures including governors and party leadership, may reflect deeper divisions or personal reservations regarding the ongoing efforts to strengthen the party.

Despite this, the meeting focused on fostering unity within the PDP, with several proposals put forward to resolve internal conflicts.

Acting national chairman, Ambassador Umar Ilya Damagun, emphasized the importance of unity and collective strength for the party’s success in the upcoming elections. Meanwhile, the governors and the reconciliation committee underscored the need to repair broken relationships and ensure a united front to challenge the ruling APC in 2027.

The focus on reconciling differing factions, including suggestions for reshuffling party positions across states to promote unity, points to a broader attempt to mend the party’s internal divides.

With the upcoming conventions and elections on the horizon, the PDP appears determined to regroup and present a united opposition.

The effectiveness of these efforts, however, might hinge on how well these reconciliatory strategies resonate within the party, particularly with absent figures like Atiku.
