The Nigeria Police Force has clarified that President Bola Tinubu did not extend Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun’s tenure.
Instead, the President approved a four-year tenure for Egbetokun, in accordance with the law. The Police Force’s Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, emphasized that the approval is a standard application of the law, not an extension.
The IGP’s appointment, confirmed by the Police Council, was accompanied by a letter specifying the four-year term as per constitutional provisions. The Police dismissed claims of a tenure extension as misinformation.
