The Provost and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal College of Medical Laboratory Science and Technology (FCMLS), Jos, Professor Nkereuwem Etukudoh, has called on Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, to intervene in the growing political tensions in Abak Local Government Area (LGA). He appealed to the governor to caution the Paramount Ruler, traditional rulers, and political actors in Abak to conduct themselves responsibly and desist from actions that could lead to division and chaos in the area.
Professor Etukudoh made this appeal during the governor’s federal constituency tour to Abak Federal Constituency, where he addressed stakeholders at a town hall meeting held at Abak Township Stadium. He noted that the meeting was timely, as concerns over leadership marginalization and political disputes had created unrest among both traditional and political leaders in the LGA.
The distinguished academic, a Professor of Medical Physiology, commended Governor Umo Eno’s administration for its inclusive governance and commitment to unity and development. He described the governor’s leadership as exemplary, adding that even President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, had recognized its excellence.
“The administration of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, PhD, is the best in the country, and the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has attested to this,” Professor Etukudoh stated.
He urged political leaders in Abak to emulate the governor’s leadership style, fostering peace and cooperation in the constituency. He specifically appealed to Governor Eno to advise the Paramount Ruler of Abak to exercise caution in his leadership approach to prevent unnecessary conflicts within the LGA.
Reaffirming his unwavering support for Governor Umo Eno’s administration, Professor Etukudoh pledged his full backing for the governor’s re-election bid in 2027.
In response, Governor Umo Bassey Eno, PhD, praised Professor Etukudoh for his forthrightness and commitment to the development of Abak Federal Constituency.
The governor’s constituency tour is expected to further strengthen his ARISE Agenda and consolidate his administration’s achievements across the state.
