Organizers of the planned nationwide protests are determined to proceed with their use of Eagle Square in Abuja, despite alleged government resistance.
Damilare Adenola, the Mobilization Director of the Take It Back Movement, made this clear on Sunday during an appearance on Channels TV’s “Sunday Politics.”
He mentioned that the organization had sent a letter to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, requesting permission to use the facility.
In a recent town hall meeting with residents, Wike claimed he had only learned about the letter through social media.
Responding to Wike’s claim, Damilare suggested that either government bureaucracy was delaying the letter’s receipt, or the minister was being disingenuous about not receiving it.
Damilare assured that another letter would be sent on Monday to ensure that the permission process was properly followed.
However, he maintained that the protests would go ahead at Eagle Square on August 1st, with or without Wike’s approval.
“Eagle Square is a public property,” Damilare stated. “I was surprised to see the minister asking us to pay rent, security fees, and other charges.” —– NEWSIE EVENTS MEDIA TEAM Follow Us On Twitter: @NewsieEvents, Instagram: newsieevents, Facebook: Newsie Events (Subscribe to our YouTube Page: Newsie Eventsng.
