The Bauchi State chapter of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has strongly criticized the Bauchi State Government and the House of Assembly for proposing an excessive allocation of N3.4 billion for fuel and travel expenses in the 2025 budget. In a statement released by the PRP State Secretary, Wada Abdullahi, the party condemned this allocation as a “blatant disregard for the welfare of the citizens.”
According to the statement, the government has earmarked N1 billion for fuel expenses at the Government House alone, with N500 million allocated for fueling motor vehicles and another N500 million for generators. Additionally, the Bauchi State House of Assembly is proposing a budget of N1.4 billion for travel expenses, while the Office of the Secretary to the State Government has set aside N1 billion for international travel.
The PRP accused the government of prioritizing personal extravagance over addressing critical issues such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure. Abdullahi emphasized that this proposed budget is a clear indication of the government’s neglect of the people’s needs, particularly when essential services like hospitals, schools, and roads are in disrepair. The party expressed concern that the government’s spending choices reflect gross mismanagement of public funds.
The PRP urged the people of Bauchi to unite against this culture of impunity and demand better governance. They also called for an immediate end to the reckless spending, demanding that state resources be used for the benefit of the people rather than for extravagant personal indulgences.
