Rt. Hon. Unyime Idem, Chairman of the House Committee on Public Procurement, has sent the second batch of three Akwa Ibomites to China for advanced industrial technology training. This initiative is part of his commitment to training 100 Akwa Ibomites in relevant skills for global competitiveness and efficiency.
The beneficiaries of this training are:
- Nsenam George Iwuoetok
- Ufok Michael
- Ediong Charles
They will receive instruction in areas such as Building Construction Technology, industrial automation, and emerging technologies for lifelong learning. Their training will also cover innovations in workplace planning, leadership skills for the 4th industrial revolution, and fundamentals of machine learning and AI.
In a letter to the trainees, Idem emphasized the importance of exposure to modern technology and encouraged them to be excellent ambassadors of Akwa Ibom and Nigeria. He highlighted his goal to train 100 Akwa Ibomites to ensure they can compete globally, drawing from his own experiences and training.
The choice of China for this training is strategic, given its prominence in technology and economic development. The first batch of Akwa Ibomites recently returned from a digital innovation training in Kigali, Rwanda, further supporting the initiative’s success.
