Rivers: Ex-head of service missing, wife alleges coerced confession.

The wife of Rivers State’s former Head of Service, Florence Nwaeke, has raised concerns over the whereabouts of her husband, George Nwaeke, following his resignation from office.

Speaking to journalists late Friday, a distressed Mrs. Nwaeke revealed that she has been unable to reach her husband and fears for his safety. She recounted that he had informed her upon landing in Abuja, but she later saw an online interview in which he made statements she believes were made under duress.

“When he got to Abuja, he called me to say he had arrived safely. I was relieved. But later that night, I started getting calls that he had granted an interview. I was shocked. I asked, ‘What interview? About what?’ Then I saw the video online, and I knew immediately—this is not my husband,” she said.

Mrs. Nwaeke said she attempted to contact him but received no response. “I sent him messages asking if he was under duress, if he had been kidnapped. I pleaded with him to talk to me. But he did not reply, and now his phone numbers are unreachable,” she lamented.

Her outcry follows an exclusive interview in which Mr. Nwaeke made allegations against Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Among his claims were that Governor Fubara was supporting Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed’s 2027 presidential ambition and that he had met with militants to encourage attacks on oil facilities.

In a follow-up video, Mrs. Nwaeke pleaded with Governor Fubara to intervene, asserting that her husband had resigned to avoid trouble and was now being forced into making false confessions. She publicly appealed for help, urging authorities and Nigerians to come to her husband’s aid.
