Rt. Hon. Unyime Idem, the chairman of the House Committee on Public Procurement, has continued his commitment to youth empowerment by sending the fourth batch of four Akwa Ibom youths to China for advanced training. This initiative is part of his goal to train 100 Akwa Ibomites in relevant skills to enhance their global competitiveness.
In a recent Facebook post, Idem emphasized his dedication to equipping young people for self-sufficiency and leadership. The selected trainees and their respective courses are:
- Edikan Eno-obong Ntefreh: Marine Spatial Planning and Blue Economic Development
- Otobong OkuAbasi Kenjoshua: Women Vocational Education, Employment, and Entrepreneurship
- IkanAbasi Anieken Akpan: Women Vocational Education, Employment, and Entrepreneurship
- Ekomobong Ezekiel Johnson: Agricultural Ecology and Circular Agriculture
Idem highlighted the importance of modern technology and exposure, stating that it is essential for competing on a global scale. He expressed hope that these experiences would prepare the beneficiaries to excel and surpass his own achievements.
In a letter to the trainees, he outlined their entitlements, including a travel allowance, and urged them to conduct themselves as ambassadors of Akwa Ibom and Nigeria. Idem also reiterated his commitment to continuing this training initiative periodically until the target of 100 trained youths is reached.
He concluded with well wishes for their journey and training experience, reinforcing the importance of their roles in shaping the future of Akwa Ibom State.
