Former Senator representing Adamawa North, Elisha Abbo, has alleged that Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s actions have put suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, at risk.

Abbo criticized Akpabio for ordering the withdrawal of Natasha’s security details following her six-month suspension from the Senate. The suspension was imposed after she failed to substantiate allegations of sexual harassment against the Senate President.

Speaking on Arise News’ PrimeTime program on Wednesday night, Abbo condemned the decision, describing it as politically biased and heavy-handed.

“In Natasha’s case, it took a different dimension. Akpabio acted like an emperor, suspending her for six months, withdrawing her security, stopping her salary, barring her from the National Assembly premises, and even instructing the Inspector General of Police not to provide her security,” Abbo stated.

He further argued that such actions effectively exposed Natasha to danger. “When you withdraw someone’s security, you are leaving them vulnerable. The IG must have realized this because if anything happens to Natasha, there will be consequences,” he added.

Drawing comparisons, Abbo recalled that during the 8th Senate, Akpabio had a verbal altercation with then-Senate President Bukola Saraki but was not suspended. He questioned why Natasha faced a harsher penalty, suggesting that the move was politically motivated.
