The Southern Governors Forum (SGF), led by Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed profound sorrow and condolences following the tragic deaths of Abdulwahab Umar Namadi and his mother, Hajia Maryam Namadi. Abdulwahab, the son of Jigawa State Governor, H.E. Umar Namadi, tragically lost his life in a road accident on Thursday, along the Dutse-Kafin-Hausa Road. This occurred just a day after the passing of his mother, Hajia Maryam Namadi.

In a statement released on Friday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, Governor Abiodun extended the deepest sympathies of the Forum to Governor Umar Namadi and the people of Jigawa State, describing the sequence of losses as devastating.

He said: “I and members of the Southern Governors Forum can hardly find the words to describe the devastating news of the loss of our brother, Governor Umar Namadi’s son, Abdulwahab, in a road accident, just a day after the death of his very dear mother, Alhaja Maryam Namadi. Abdulwahab, a young man full of life, died in the accident along the Dutse-Kafin-Hausa Road on Thursday.”

Abiodun acknowledged the immense grief and heartbreak these tragic events bring, noting that the loss, coming during the festive season when families often look forward to joyous celebrations, was especially painful. He continued, “By a cruel twist of fate, Abdulwahab, who was mourning the loss of his dear grandmother, lost his life in a road accident.”

While expressing deep sadness, Abiodun emphasized that the Forum took solace in the lives of the deceased, noting their contributions to the community and their legacy of service and compassion. He added: “We are completely heartbroken. We commiserate with the Governor and people of Jigawa State and pray for the repose of the souls of these very dear loved ones.”

The Governor concluded by offering prayers for the comfort and strength of the bereaved family, while praying for the souls of Abdulwahab and Hajia Maryam Namadi. “May the Almighty Allah, the Most Merciful and the Most Benevolent, grant them Aljanat Firdaus. May He comfort His Excellency and members of the Namadi family at this terrible hour of trial,” he stated.

In closing, he offered the condolences of the Southern Governors Forum, praying for the fortitude of Governor Umar Namadi and his family during this tragic time, assuring them that their loved ones are now in the care of Allah.
