In Osun State, 401 chairmen and members of caretaker committees across Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas have resigned from their positions.
This includes 69 caretaker chairmen and 332 members representing each ward in the state. The resignations came after the Supreme Court declared their positions as illegal.
The caretaker chairman of Odo-Otin local government, Adewale Adeyinka, cited pursuing other opportunities to serve his people as his reason for resigning. The caretaker appointments had been made by Governor Ademola Adeleke in August 2023, with an extension in February 2024.
