Three arrested for allegedly gangraping minor in Adamawa

Three people have been detained by members of the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly gang raping a 15-year-old minor in the Mayo Belwa Local Government Area.

 

The suspects were identified as Yahaya Edward, 26, a resident of Sabon Pegi, Ngurore, Yola South Local Government Area, Uzairu Dan Fulani, 25, and Hassan Nasir, 25, all of Gasabga Ward, Mayo Belwa, Yola South Local Government Area.

The girl allegedly boarded a tricycle from Mayo Belwa to Ngurore after being enticed by the accused. They then allegedly took a detour behind the Cottage Hospital in Mayo-Belwa, dragged the girl inside, and had illicit carnal knowledge of her without her consent.

A relative of the victim reported the event to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Mayo Belwa, which led to their arrest.

 

The state commissioner of police, CP Afolabi Babatola, expressed concern over the unfortunate incident, according to the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who also directed the officer in charge of the command’s Family Support Unit to take over the investigation and ensure diligent prosecution in accordance with the law at the time.
