In a powerful speech at the inauguration of Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu rallied African leaders to assert the continent’s independence from Western validation.

He commended the recent Ghanaian elections, declaring that they confirmed Africa’s capability for democratic and productive progress.

Tinubu emphasized that Africa no longer needs to prove itself to the West, pointing out the continent’s strides in democracy and development. He highlighted the shared history and unity of African nations, referencing the spirit of Ghana’s founding leader, Kwame Nkrumah.

Tinubu expressed confidence in Mahama’s leadership, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to supporting Ghana and working together for regional prosperity and stability.

He called for renewed efforts to address Africa’s challenges, including poverty, youth unemployment, and instability, and underscored the importance of unity in overcoming these obstacles.
