The Member of Parliament representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Unyime Idem, has once again demonstrated his commitment to empowering young people from Akwa Ibom State by sponsoring a 6th batch of three individuals to China for advanced training on economic governance. This initiative is part of Idem’s broader goal to train 100 youths in various fields, equipping them with the skills needed to thrive in a globalized economy.
Idem, who serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Procurement, had previously sent the 4th and 5th batches of beneficiaries to China. During his 2023 campaign, he pledged to support the training of young Akwa Ibomites to ensure they gain relevant skills for self-sufficiency and global competitiveness.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Idem expressed his fulfillment of this promise, stating, “Earlier today, I sent forth the 6th batch of three Akwa Ibomites to China for Advanced Training on Economic Governance. This is in fulfillment of my commitment to train 100 youths to gain mastery of relevant skills for self-sufficiency and global competitiveness, as well as raise the next generation of leaders in Akwa Ibom state.”
The three beneficiaries of this batch, Eno-obong Monday Jacob, Nsidibe Thompson Udoatat, and Ndiana Monday Emmanson, are set to receive world-class training to help them stay competitive on the global stage. Idem emphasized the importance of exposure to modern technology and the need for Akwa Ibom youths to be equipped for success wherever they find themselves.
He expressed hope that the training would inspire these young individuals to surpass his own achievements, having himself benefited from global exposure over the years. The lawmaker has pledged to continue sending trainees in batches until the goal of training 100 Akwa Ibomites is achieved.
In his letter to the beneficiaries, titled “Letter of Nomination and Sponsorship to Training in China,” Idem encouraged them to conduct themselves honorably as ambassadors of both Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria. He also wished them a safe journey and successful training experience.
Idem’s initiative serves as a significant step toward building a strong, skilled, and competitive youth workforce in Akwa Ibom State, contributing to the state’s future leadership and economic growth.
