… declare support for federal lawmaker’s second term bid
The support for the re-election of the member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Unyime Idem has continued to grow as the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party – PDP, Elder Aniekan Akpan and the Political Leader of Ukanafun local government area, Obong Eno Akpan have both affirmed their support for the federal lawmaker.
Elder Akpan who made the affirmation at his residence in Uyo when the federal lawmaker officially consulted him on his second term ambition, commended Idem for effectively representing the interest of the federal constituency, adding that it takes only a man with the grace of God to achieve what he has done as a first timer in the National Assembly.
The party chairman said that he stands with the position of the stakeholders in Ukanafun local government for Idem to return for second term having served well as a first timer in the National Assembly.
“God decides who he promotes, and God has given you the grace to achieve all you have done in such a short time. I am confident that with the support of the stakeholders and the people of Ukanafun and Oruk Anam, you will perform far better in your second term,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Political Leader, Obong Eno Akpan who also received the federal lawmaker at his Ewet Housing residency said he is satisfied with the representation of Idem in the House of Representatives. According to him, the Deputy Chairman House Committee on Communications have raised the bar in effective representation with direct impacts on the people.
“You have done well, since I left the House of Representatives in 2003, you are the first person to represent the people effectively. You are a good representative, not just to the federal constituency but to the state and nation at large and I commend the stakeholders in Ukanafun for asking you to go back for a second term. You have respected the leadership of Ukanafun in all your dealings and God will bless you,”
“We expect more from you in the second term, carry everyone along and be assured of our support,” Obong Akpan stated.
Speaking separately while officially declaring his intention to seek reelection, Rep. Idem thanked the party chairman who was the director general of his campaign organization in 2019 and the political leader for their support for him in his first term bid and his desire following the endorsement of the stakeholders in Ukanafun to seek for a second term in office.
He said, “my first term was a time to learn the politics of the National Assembly and by the grace of God, I now understand what it means to succeed there, going back there through your support, I promise that I will do far better than I have done in the last three and half years.”
Unyime Idem who is campaigning on the theme “Sufficient Grace” has sponsored 20 bills, moved 20 motions and has embarked on over 40 life touching projects with Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency in the last three years.
Those present at the consultations, were the chairman of Ukanafun local government, Pastor Godwin Inyieng, his Oruk Anam counterpart Kingsley Frank, the leaders of council from Ukanafun and Oruk Anam, SAs to the Governor, Ekpenyong Ekpenyong, Amos Udom and Nsikak Umoekpo, former Vice Chairmen and councillors among others.
