The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has refuted claims that he was barred from Aso Rock Villa due to being drunk during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The allegations were made by journalist Jackson Ude, who posted on X that Wike, allegedly intoxicated, was not allowed into the Villa during Modi’s visit.
Wike’s spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, dismissed these claims, stating that the FCT Minister followed official duties as instructed by President Bola Tinubu. According to Olayinka, Wike led the Prime Minister from the airport to his hotel and later to the Presidential Villa, where his responsibilities were fulfilled.
The statement also criticized Ude for spreading false information, referencing his past inaccurate claims about other Nigerian figures. Olayinka emphasized that the released photos of Wike with the Indian Prime Minister disproved the journalist’s narrative and affirmed Wike’s professionalism during the visit.
