Nigerian Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has recently disrupted another event in Abuja, criticizing it for lacking a people-centered purpose and not being approved by her ministry. This follows a similar disruption on August 8, 2024, where she also condemned an unapproved event and had the organizer detained for alleged impersonation.
In her latest video statement, Kennedy-Ohanenye expressed her frustration with seminars and workshops that, in her view, do not lead to tangible empowerment. She argued that such events waste government resources and do not address pressing issues like poverty and women’s empowerment. She emphasized that no program should be organized without a focus on genuine empowerment, and she warned that she would publicly denounce any future events that do not align with this principle.
