In a recent statement, Lere Olayinka, the media aide to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), responded sharply to allegations raised by Ugochinyere, a prominent figure within the Action Peoples Party (APP) and the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP). The allegations suggested that Wike and security agencies were plotting to arrest Ugochinyere.
Olayinka dismissed the claims, emphasizing that Wike is too focused on his responsibilities of developing the FCT as directed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to entertain such accusations. He also criticized Ugochinyere, describing him as someone with a history of manipulation and betrayal within Nigerian politics.
The spokesperson further ridiculed the CUPP, calling it an “unknown and illegal entity” that was only formed in 2018 to support the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2019 presidential elections. Olayinka stated that the group had dissolved after that election but that Ugochinyere continued to use it for personal political gain.
In response to the allegations, Olayinka advised Ugochinyere to reflect on his own actions and relationships within Nigerian politics to understand who might be behind the current complaints. He emphasized that Wike is solely dedicated to fulfilling his ministerial duties and is uninterested in engaging with those seeking attention.
