The Chairman of the Young Progressive Party, (YPP), Eket Chapter, Amb. Gospel Edoho John (GEJ) on behalf of YPP party members in Eket and Akwa-Ibom State in general, congratulate the
Chairman, Eket Local Government Chairman, Mr Akan Tommey for adding a year to his age.
While celebrating the Local Government Boss’s achievements, Edoho John also called his attention to some existential problems that brings division and enmity in our society.

Today, the Young Progressives Party – YPP Eket celebrate you as a young leader with exceptional potentials. The way you went into swift action at the beginning of your tenure is commendable.
Permit me to share with you that Eket LGA is confronted by existential threats that seek to engender the fragmentation and disintegration of our holistic entity. We have become a divided and segregated society like never before, the rise of cultism and other militia capitalist is on the increase. We have become fractured by past political insensitivity of elders and leadership disability. As such, the current youths agitation on daily basis must be construed in this context. It is a divine intervention to resuscitate the moribund kindred spirit of the Ekid brotherhood. To aver this movement as mere politically motivated is to submit to jejune partisan stimuli emanating from a reprehensible perennial insensitivity. Now you know this fact, I am confident that you’ll work speedily to regain the Ekid past glories in leadership and development as age is on your side.
As you mark this milestone of your birth anniversary, we pray that the influence of corrupt elders will not detect your ability to deliver our collective mandate vested on you. Giving God’s boundless love on the people of Eket thus far, you will continue to enjoy peace and good health.”
