The Akwa Ibom Chairman of Young Progressive party Mr Kelvin Umoh has frown mercilessly against a motion to eradicate Quackery in the health sector solely moved by Barr. Otobong Bob member representing Nsit Ubium in the Akwa Ibom state house of Assembly.
Mr Kelvin who mercilessly attacked the motion described it as fatuous and misleading to ask for the eradication of this sector that has offered selfless services to the people for years.
The motion raised by the Assemblyman is said to have brought pursuant to order 111, role one of the standing orders of the state house of Assembly and this was suggested to have been it six editions. According to the lawmaker Quacks has consistently caused damages, harms to individuals due to wrong diagnoses, mismanagement of patients non-therapeutic termination and that the health facilitates operates illegally without formal registration.
The party Chairman vehemently role against what he called pointless motion which already lacks credibility to resist the sector.
Kelvin told NEWSIE EVENT that operators have been on the sector long even before the lawmaker was born and that the health dealers have since inception recorded huge successes in all their services wondering the rationale behind the said motion.
The party Chairman tell newsmen that there are certain locality in Akwa Ibom that does not have cottage hospital talk less of a general hospital and it has been these health workers that assisted to offer services to the people at the local communities and that their service has been stupendously offered and accepted by the people because it cheap and affordable.
Mr Umoh noted that the government of the day once bragged about free medical treatment to kids in the rural communities but since then nothing of such has happened but not for the intervention of the healthy people.
He said the motion was of no important rather the should find a lasting solution by seeking ways of collaboration in other to offer to train and retrained them and make use of them for a more excellent service rather than eradicating.
Kelvin challenges the state government to think of licensing them and monitor their activities. He
” I kick against Otobong Bob position towards these people because ninety-nine percent of elderly people at the rural areas are being midwived by these people, hence Otobong should desist from addressing matters that according to Kelvin are not important to be deliberated in the floor of the house.
Otobong should retwist his bill towards ensuring that cottage hospital is found in all local communities of the state with proficient personals for dispense services.
