The newly Coronated King, the Alara Of Ara Kingdom, Osun State, His Royal Majesty, Oba Olubayo Adesola Windapo has on Wednesday made a plea to the National Youth Service Corps Members In Ara and Suburbs to come to their Help with Sensitization and Community Mobilization about Lassa and Corona Viruses, which are common diseases that are currently spreading.
He said this when the Corps members and the local government Inspector of Egbedore local government paid him a Congratulatory Visit on His Coronation as the King.
The King who gladly welcomed the Corps members said in his address “we need you Corp Members to help us in Community Mobilization and Sensitisation about the common diseases spreading around. Lassa fever and Coronavirus. We need you to help us enlighten our people on how to prevent the spread of the diseases in the community, because the majority of our people are ignorant of community health generally, therefore we need to let them know how to keep their foods from been contaminated and avoid foods which have been contaminated. That is one of our major challenges in this community and we need your hands if you have the opportunity to help”
In response, the Local Government Inspector of Egbedore Local Government, Mr. Olunloyo mentioned that the directive had been given through the state secretariate that Corp Members should be mobilized to enlighten people on the widespread diseases to serve as a preventative measure. But the major challenge is the unavailability of materials especially at the local government level to support the efforts of the Corp members. Materials like handbills, posters are written in the native language will help the efforts of the Corp members on the field.
Responding accordingly, His Majesty, who is also a Medical Doctor Assured the Team to make the materials available before their next sensitisation. And He added that the Corp Members should take advantage of whatever is available wherever they find themselves. He mentioned that Osun State as an agrarian community should serve as an advantage to the Corp Members, for the land is available for farming which can serve as a source of income for whosoever have interest in farming.
As an act of appreciation to the King, A Corps Member, Victoria Daramola on behalf of other corps members, thanked the King and His Council for welcoming them, and for assuring them of His Support in their service year.
