Sadiya Umar Farouq, a former minister of social development, disaster management, and humanitarian affairs, has expressed regret for turning down the invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Farouq apologized in writing to the EFCC for missing her scheduled appearance to address inquiries on the purported N37.1 billion in money laundering that occurred during her tenure.
The former minister wrote to the anti-graft agency, stating that she is not willing to come before the commission at this time, according to Commission Spokesman Dele Oyewale, who spoke with Channels Television about this.
He continued by saying that she has been instructed by the EFCC to accept the invitation right away.
Halima Shehu, the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) suspended National Coordinator, has reported to the commission in the interim.
According to sources, she is giving the agency’s interrogators the information they need in the meanwhile.
She is not, however, being held at the commission. Until the investigation is over, she is required to report to the commission each day.
